The Long Trail stretches the entire length of Vermont from North to South (and back, of course). This site describes the 265-mile trail and provides several maps.

This guide is the culmination of years of work by the volunteers of the Green Mountain Club. The book provides detailed descriptions of over 50 hikes, ranging from a half-mile stroll to 20-mile peak climbs. There are maps for each hike, and additional background information is included.

Features detailed descriptions of hikes in southern Vermont, but it isn't a book! Instead, it is a collection of 12 hiking cards, one per hike, that can be carried individually. Each card combines trail map, route description, elevation gains, level of difficulty, historical notes, best picnic spots, explanation of mountains seen from overlooks, directions to trailhead and much more. Included is a transparent, protective card carrier which can be worn around the neck or carried in a pocket.
